Business Integrity

Business integrity

What do we mean by business integrity?

describes integrity as follows:

Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. …

The word integrity evolved from the Latin adjective integer, meaning whole or complete.

In this context, integrity is the inner sense of “wholeness” ..

To have a strong sense of integrity as an individual is admirable.

To have a strong sense of business integrity is essential for long term business success.

Man has learned that where he has agreed upon codes of conduct or what is proper, he survives.

To determine this there are three elements that need to be examined with the minutest attention to detail if it is wished to achieve the highest level of business integrity.

1/ Strong unshakable moral code

This can be summed up as doing the right thing, at the right time, for the right reason.

If you see somebody drop a one hundred dollar note do you rush to pick it up and return it or does it somehow find its way into your pocket?

In business if you receive an over payment do you take steps to immediately  return it to the customer?

Do you firmly believe that honesty is the best policy?

Do you strictly adhere to this principle when describing your product and the resultant expected benefits?

Good business is all about relationship building and working within a clear set of good principles will make for much stronger relationships.

2/ Adherence to commitments

A dictionary definition of commitment is the act of binding yourself (intellectually or emotionally) to a course of action.

If you say you will do something do you do it no matter the obstacles in your way?

In business for example if you commit to being a successful internet marketer do you proceed to do just that?

Do you keep striving to overcome all the obstacles that you encounter?

Do you keep moving forward til you get to the end of your journey?

Unfortunately some find it all too easy to make a commitment and then not follow through.

This is often the case in business. Commitment is given but the follow through is lacking.

We have all had experiences of this in our business dealings and it has left us with a bitter taste in our mouths and a poor assessment of the entity’s business integrity.

3/ Deep sense of trust

To have faith, is to have a deep sense of trust in what cannot be seen. Proof or evidence is not needed. Rather it is an inner sense of knowing that guides you.

You do something because you have a deep sense of trust in the process.

Genuine trust grows out of goodwill and virtue.

It is this goodwill and virtue that we need to pursue if we wish to achieve a high level of trust.

Repeat business will flow to those enterprises that have achieved a high level of trust and this is an important aspect of maintaining a high level of business integrity.

We all want a business that is stable and long term. A business that is free of heart aches and problems. A business that springs with pleasure to our consciousness as we are awakening and prompts us to bound out of bed to get started with the day’s tasks.

A business that has a high level of business integrity.

We can have this if we strive to achieve the following

#   an unshakable moral code

#   adherence to commitments

#   a deep sense of trust

and we will be well on the way to successfully building a business integrity philosophy to do us proud.
