Stay Motivated and On Track.

How to Stay Motivated and On Track.

How to stay motivated and on track is a challenge . Our lives throw up all sorts of distractions. We need to find ways of staying the course.

In the morning we should not have to drag ourselves out of bed: wishing we could keep the warm covers over us. Yearning for extra Z’s. Wanting to lapse back into the land of dreaming.

How can you stay motivated when there seems to be  a myriad of obstacles in the way. Obstacles like a never ending to do list or children that need supervising. Or maybe a household appliance that refuses to work or…..

When morning comes we should  spring out of bed looking forward to the day’s activities. We should be bright eyed and eagerly anticipating  our expected achievements for the day. We should have a spring in our step brought about by the wonderful expectations we see in our minds eye.

You can stay motivated and on track if  you follow three simple steps.

Maintain good health.

For most this is quite simply done.

Get Sufficient Sleep.

http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/sdd/why

The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute tells us we should get sufficient sleep each night. The body can’t function efficiently without adequate sleep. The way you feel while you’re awake depends in part on what happens while you’re sleeping. During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and to maintain your physical health.

The NHLB says the damage from sleep deficiency can occur in an instant (such as a car crash), or it can harm you over time. For example, ongoing sleep deficiency can raise your risk for some chronic health problems. It also can affect how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others.

Eat a balanced diet with everything in moderation.

Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health.

Health Line observes that a balanced diet is one that gives your body the nutrients it needs to function correctly. In order to get the proper nutrition from your diet it should include

    • fresh fruits
    • fresh vegetables
    • whole grains
    • legumes
    • nuts
    • lean proteins

Everything should be consumed in moderation a.nd remember to hydrate

Get Regular exercise

https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/healthyliving/physical-activity-its-important

Better Health Victoria lists the following objectives

  • Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day.
  • See everyday activities as a good opportunity to be active.
  • Try to find the time for some regular, vigorous exercise for extra health and fitness benefits.
  • Minimise the amount of time spent in prolonged sitting and break up long periods of sitting as often as possible.

If we optimize our health by getting sufficient sleep, eating a balanced diet and pursuing regular vigorous exercise we will notice improved performance in creativity and work output.

Set Goals to Stay Motivated.

In this day and age it may not be necessary to discuss goal setting. It is however an important part of performance optimization

Donna Stone of Key Business Network notes, ” It’s a statistical fact that people who goal set (whether in life or business) achieve far more than those who do not. One of the reasons is that it helps energize our day. She goes on to say that goals need to be SMART.

S     Your goal must be specific.  I want to be ‘wealthy’ or ‘successful’ is not specific.

M     Goals need to be measurable.  A 10% increase in sales/month CAN be measured.

A    Be realistic with your goals, so that they are attainable.  Do you have any way of
achieving a million dollar a month turnover?

R    It should be recorded.  Writing it down makes it so much more real.   And R is also
for reviewed.  Like our budgets we need to review our progress regularly.

T    And finally, T is timely. Set specific time limits, whether a deadline, or monthly goal.

Practice Vizualization.

Remez Sasson says Creative visualization is a mental technique that uses the imagination to make dreams and goals come true.

There are people who use this technique naturally, not being aware that they are using some sort of power. All successful people use it consciously or unconsciously. They attract the success they want by visualizing their goals as already accomplished.

The subconscious mind accepts the thoughts that you often repeat. When it accepts them, it changes your mindset accordingly, as well as your habits and actions. This brings you into contact with new people, situations and circumstances.

Creative visualization uses the power of the mind, and is the power behind every success.
